February Open Enrollment Guidelines

In-County Reassignments:

If your student is currently on reassignment to a school other than his/her assigned geographic school, you no longer have to renew each February. Your student will remain on that school’s roster until your student has completed the highest grade level offered at that school.

During this month, you may select any school in our district as your student’s home school. If you decide to select a school other than your assigned geographic school for your student to attend, be careful to note any special conditions such as transportation.

We have some schools that are closed to this reassignment option as they are currently at capacity enrollment. The schools and grades currently closed to reassignment are listed below.

Out-of-County Reassignments:

It is time to complete an Out-of-County Reassignment form if you would like for your child to continue attending a Charlotte County Public School for the 2011-2012 school year.

You must also contact the school district office of your home county (Sarasota, Lee, or DeSoto) complete their form and obtain permission for your child to attend school in Charlotte County. For your convenience the contact numbers of other school districts are listed below.

Once permission is obtained from your home county, attach a copy of the reassignment/release form to the Charlotte County Out-of-County Reassignment Application. Please take the Charlotte County Out-of-County Reassignment Application form to the school you have requested for your child to attend and obtain the principal’s signature. Once the principal of the requested school has signed the form, please return the completed reassignment forms to:
